The UNM Student Handbook is called The Pathfinder. It is composed into two sections: Campus Services and Campus Policies and can be accessed online at

The categories are divided into subcategories or named policies in order to help you easily navigate the needed information. Every effort has been made to provide current and accurate information in this publication; however, the administration reserves the right to alter, amend, or abolish its rules, regulations or policies at any time. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please consult the individual departments and/or policy manuals referenced. The Dean of Students Office is responsible for updating and maintaining the Pathfinder.

Student Code of Conduct

he University will take disciplinary action against students for conduct which adversely affects the University's educational function, disrupts community living on campus, interferes with the rights of others to pursue their education, conduct their University duties and responsibilities, or participate in University activities, when the offensive conduct occurs on University premises or at University-sponsored events, or when an offense which occurs off campus is such that failure to take disciplinary action is likely to interfere with the educational process or the orderly operation of the University, or endanger the health, safety, or welfare of the University community. Visitor Code of Conduct

The University acknowledges and affirms the rights of visitors under the federal and state constitutions, including First Amendment and due process rights. However, conduct which adversely affects the University's educational function, disrupts community living on campus, or interferes with the rights of others to pursue their education, to conduct their University duties and responsibilities, or to participate in University activities shall be considered an offense against the University. Such conduct is prohibited and shall lead to disciplinary action, including expulsion or barring from campus, or arrest by the University when the offense occurs on University premises, as part of a University-sponsored event, or in connection with University activities.
